Show Review: 632

Social D knocked it out of the park in Indianapolis! Opening act "Sharks" had their van break down, and they made it to the show 15 minutes before start time- they set up, sound checked, and STILL started on time! The second act was Chuck Ragan. GREAT performance by Chuck and his band! As I told Chuck after the show, I knew what I was getting when I bought a ticket to see Social Distortion… but I had no idea who he was before the concert. I was really blown away! There is no better surprise for a music fan than showing up, seeing a band you’ve never heard of, and loving everything you hear. Chuck’s performance really set the mood for the evening, and I feel really fortunate to have been there. Then it happened- Social Distortion took the stage, started rocking, and never looked back! Mike ripped through a good set list of old favorites and stuff from the new album, too… and every song rocked. From the old stuff, "Making Believe" was probably my favorite. Of the new stuff, I’ll say "Bakersfield" because I like that little bluesy riff throughout the song. What didn’t they play that I would have liked to hear? That’s tough, because they have SO MANY good songs… but I’ll go with the cover of "Alone and Forsaken." I was lucky to be in the front row, and one thing I loved was the clean stage. There were no monitors and extra stuff out front, which allowed Mike to use every inch of the stage… and he spent a good deal of the night right on the edge of it. If you haven’t been to a Social Distortion show, you owe it to yourself to go see Mike and the boys on this tour. If you are lucky, Chuck Ragan will be at that show, too. Big props to Social D for introducing me to his music!
