This was a make-up for a canceled show from mid-December ’07. As I recall a strong Santa Ana wind was blowing this night and Mike had comments to the extent, "Santa Ana winds… you never know what’s gonna happen when the winds blow…" The set started with 3 acoustic songs, including Ring of Fire. IMO, the opening set was really one of the highlights. I think the "electric" portion opened with King of Fools – but it’s a year ago now. I recall great sound and some good stories from Mike about his teenage employment opportunities. I also saw Mike last month "solo" at the Coach House. I may be getting old, but I think the acoustic stuff really comes off well. But I’ve been an S.D. fan since day one, so the whole contrasts from acoustic to amped are great. This set closed with Ring of Fire too – not a bad song at all to hear twice. The current band line-up is great – Brent on stand up bass is a real treat. Sex, Love…. was really a great album and I’m looking forward to what they do next.
