An awesome show at a great venue on my birthday. I`m from Germany. Me and my friend chose this date to have a great party. Social Distortion is the reason why we visit citys like Providence, Hartfort, Boulder, Green Bay (my birthday 2009)… American Social D. shows are much more intensive than they are in Germany (although you have strange beer-drinking-rules and a nervous security!) After the show we met Mike Ness. He signed my t-shirt during a friendly small-talk. A perfect birthday! |

Arriving at The Webster we quickly realized this wasn’t one of the finer neighborhoods that Hartford has to offer, no biggie we aren’t here for the wine and cheese tasting we are here for one of America’s greatest rock-n-roll bands and rock-n-roll ain’t pretty. By the time they took the stage the crowd was ready to go and the floor immediately started moving, however The Webster security was having none of it as they quickly made their presence known that nobody was gonna have any fun in the pit. Few people dragged out by their necks for simply letting the music flow through them but hey the sign does say “NO Moshing” and they enforced it. I was a sweaty mess with a sore neck early on and by the end of Under My Thumb I knew I had to keep a leash on wanting to really unload or risk getting thrown out. Mommy’s Little Monster, Sick Boy, Making Believe, Don’t Drag Me Down, and my favorite tune of theirs Reach for the Sky how do they expect the place to stand still?!?!?! Honestly the only weak point of the show for me was Ball and Chain as Mike seemed to want to slow down the chorus part and improvise a bit while the crowd was taking over the vocals at the normal pace we all know, just made for some odd timing but if that is the only weak point who is gonna complain? After the show it was perfect timing as the band was making their way to the bus right in front of us and I got to thank Mike for the show and tell him great work, he aknowledged this and patted me on the shoulder saying thanks. Made the 3.5 hour drive back to Burlington a piece of cake with the ears still ringing and Ring of Fire on repeat in my head. |

Hartford people were mostly like sticks in the mud, yet you guys put on another outstanding show (regardless of the boring crowd and strict venue) I mean they had these GIGANTIC signs that said NO moshing NO crowd surfing NO stage diving. And they enforced it in a sick manner. Vote YES for Social D! and NO to Hartford!!!!! Thanks for the guy on my arm Johnny!!!! Love your guitar work!! |

The guys were in fine form, despite the heat. Lots of sweating both on & off the stage. The crowd, as usual, sang along with every song. Nice set list, with selected favorites/hits from every album. Also a song from the upcoming album due for release in November(?) It had been many years since I had seen S.D. live, and Mike has really come into his own. He does a fine job of working the crowd, and setting up the next song or solo. The only bummer I have to mention was the sound from the PA. I have been attending and playing in live venues since 1975, and I have to say the PA at the Webster was the worst…sound…ever. There were no highs and very little mids in the sound. I would describe it as “muddy”, which made the vocals very difficult to understand. I had brought two guests with me who were not familiar with the band’s songs and I had to constantly help them “hear” by repeating the lyrics. I felt this was a total dis-service to Mike & the band. The song lyrics are so important with S.D., and not being able to hear them is a crime. The Webster needs to invest in some new speakers immediately! Kudos to Social D for kicking ass. I would definitely recommend seeing them on this tour. The band is tight, and its a great experience to be in a crowd full of true fans singing along with every song. |

Hartford Saturday Night 7/31: Mike hasn’t looked so good in a dozen years. way to go, brother. You’re an inspiration. Still Alive. Tremendous set list. I don’t know what comes out when the songs from the new album are included. Just have to play 2+ hours every night, I guess. If they’re coming to your town, you’re out of your mind to be doing anything else that night. See you at Roseland in November. |

The show was full of energy, Good ole Mike Ness was absolutely incredible, the crowd was great, and the music was even better, Social Distortion is so tight as a band, they were fucking amazing, usually i leave about 5 or 10 minuts before a show ends to beat traffic but i said FUCK it and stayed till the very end, because they were fucking amazing, AND ALSO i will say the action design kinda sucked, but Dan Sartain was fucking awesome! he put on a great show. Well this was my 4th social Distortion show and i will say this was one of the best, HANDS DOWN, i love social D, always will |

Just got back from the show at the Webster. Eff Springsteen, eff the Stones, eff all those acts that charge you a hundred, a hundred and fifty and up just to see them. You ain’t lived anyway unless you’ve seen Mike Ness sparkin’ it up. Great, show. |
