Such a difference from last October’s show @ Casino Ballroom. The sound was muddy as hell; you couldn’t hear the guitars at all. Set list was basically identical as last fall, and the whole thing felt pretty well scripted right down to Ness’ comment about Poughkeepsie being not as energentic as Hampton (he said the exact same thing last fall, literally, the same exact thing.) I guess I’ll wait longer between Social Distortion shows next time in hopes of seeing something different. |

The boys were in good form. They were very playful w the audience and the crowd was way into it. Despite the heat, played a lot of encores, ending w Prison Bound and Ring Of Fire. One lucky fan managed to make it on stage for a good 10 seconds before security took him out. They played a lot early punk stuff; also some notewrothy versions of Sick Boys and Bad Luck; only Reach For The Sky and Nickles and Dimes from the latest album. Highlight was a nice version of Ball and Chain, more like Mikes solo country version. Played one new song, which I think will be the single off the new tbd album, called I’m Still Alive. I thought it was a really good song, rocked and fit in with the rest of the set.I think this is the break in the new drummer tour before the new album hits. Btw I thought the new drummer was really good. Got my ticks for November at the House of Blues too. |

Once again, Social D rocked the house. They are the best band – regardless of who’s on drums. Mike is a god on stage, soaking in the love from the audience. So psyched they played Prison Bound – they didn’t on their last visit. Can NOT wait until the new album (Mike said November 2010.) |

This was my first Social D. Concert, and all I can say is WOW! Not only did they tear it up on stage, they really played to the crowd well. The Casino Ballroom is the perfect venue, gritty and the acoustics are fantastic. Def. one show I’ll never forget. |

AWESOME…SIMPLY AWESOME!!! Mike is not only a legend but a guitar GOD!! This was my first time seeing Social D in concert and other than the extreme heat in the building…it was everything I had hoped for. I have NEVER seen a crowd react like they did when “Ring of Fire” was played!!! |

Dear Mr. Ness, Besides your super-cool persona, you still rock like you always have; SUPERBLY! I have been a long-time fan of your musical poetic genius, since my early school-girl days, and last night, you sir brought me back to 17 years-old. BRAVO to you and the band for a most excellent, rockin’ performance. And a big thank you for coming to play at Hampton Beach; of all the places in the world, we are charmed to have you back here. Looking forward to your new album and hopefully seeing y’all when you are back in Boston this fall (for my 18th/40th birthday) ! |

Kickass show to say the least! I am seventeen and have seen a good many punk rock gigs and last nights show tops the list. Great crowd, security were somewhat laid back(minus the one testerone newb with those big black gloves! Grrr) and the band was perfect and totally into it. You can tell Mike is a true showman and genuinelly enjoys the Northern crowd. Johhny is such a badass guitarist and just as important as the tunes themselves, hes got style. Opening bands were great with nice variety. And the crowd energy kicked ass, great moshing, and crowd surfing was a blast. Great fucking night! P.S Mike i did see you cruising those waves! (; |

As always Social D put on a helluva show. The band was tight, the set-list was great. The acoustics @ the HBC&B were kinda sucky(as usual) but that was through no fault of the bands. This was the 9th time I’ve seen them and they never disappoint. The last time I saw them prior to this was about 16 years ago at the Ventura County fair and as of last night they still sound really great. Thank you so much for 30 years of great music! |

The concert was great though I missed seeing The Action Design so I can not comment on them. Dan Sartain was a pocket-sized version of Elvis Costello. I would have liked to see Social D play a little longer but I forgave them when I got to meet Mike after the show. Thanks Mike for signing my tee shirt; it was perfectly centered just like I asked. Also, the sound quality was amazing, I told the crew they did a great job but I fear they felt I might have been sarcastic, which I was not. So, thanks to the band for a great show, thanks to Mike for meeting fans after and thanks to the crew for a great show. Good job everyone!! Megan |

Mike & the boys ripped up the Casino Ballroom last night. They sound great after all these years. Definately worth checking out. What an amazing crazy-ass crowd of all ages rocking to a wicked cool band that I finally got to see. Great time! Mike, I would recommend you guys come to Portland , ME this fall or winter if you’re gonna tour w/ the new release. The State Theatre is re-opening in October & is a amazing venue! Please check it out. Thanks again for a rockin’ good night! |

For a band that has been around for over thirty years now, Social Distortion has not lost their edge. After a long wait in a hot sold out Hampton Beach Casino, the band took the stage to a long guitar jam. Mike Ness still looks like a bad assed biker from Orange County, and the band looked equally as bad wearing matching prison jumpsuits. The crowd was really into the show with some crazy crowd surfing going on down front. It was a mixture of young and old, punks with mowhawks, bikers, and just regular joes like me. For someone who has been doing this for so long, Mike Ness still plays like it is his last show. He is a great showman and loves to interact with the crowd. It makes for a fun night, but at the same time a very intense and heartfelt performance. The songs spanned the band’s entire career, from “I Just Want to Give You The Creeps”, “Mommy’s Little Monster”, “Another State of Mind”, “Bye Bye Baby”, “Bad Luck”, “Sick Boy”, “Don’t Drag Me Down”, and a great new song that ended the first set. “Sometimes I Do” was a crowd pleasing sing along that he dedicated to local fighter Mickey Ward. The encore was “Prison Bound”, “Nickels and Dimes”, “Story of my Life” and “Ring of Fire”. He made a great point of saying how rock and roll was born out of black music, and how Johnny Cash is one of his heroes because he was there for the birth of rock music. Social D’s shows are kind of a history of the last thirty years because of all the different types of music they play. Ness aluded to all of the stories he has to tell about his life, and I hope that some publisher will give him the means to write his autobiography. I don’t know about you but that would be one book I would love to read. |
