I’m almost 42 and I never thought I could see you guys here in Buenos Aires, playing the songs I love. It was incredible. Just music and lyrics and friends and good feelings all around the place.

My older daughter wanted to go too (she is seven), but it was Sunday and she needed to go to school next morning. She sings “Sick Boy” since she is two years old and it was the very first song she sang in her life.
Maybe next time you visit us she will be there. Because you are coming back, don´t you?

I’ve been waiting for social distortion to play in argentina since i’m 12 yers old. I can say that it was the best show in my life and that my greates hope is that they come back next year, but enough, let’s talk about the show. it was incredible that started with “UNDER MY THUMB”, and i can die now in peace after listening to COLD FEELINGS,MAKING BELIEVE AND GOTTA KNOW THE RULES that were the songs that really surprieSd me, the other songs like ring of fire, story of my life, ball and chain, etc welovebut they’re not songs that makes me cry. ring of fire maybe… the show was great, i’m sad cause i couldnt listen to SOMETIMES I DO (the first social d song i’ve ever heard) anda if they ever come back i beg they play LET IT BE ME oh god hat a great song!!!! that one and WHEN SHE BEGINS are the songs missing for the greatest show in the history, i loved also REACH FOR THE SKY and HIGHWAY 101 ( they didn’y play this one on sunday night), finally i woul add to this that i’m in love with every song from mike ness’s solo ambums and it would be great to hear some of them live. i’m bvery sory for my bad english i hope someone from the band reads this and cosiders playing he songs i named before. SALUTES TO SOCIAL DISTORTION ALWAYS EWLCOME IN ARGENTINAA VIVaCARAJOOO AGUANTE SOCIAAAAL!!!!

Social Distortion 11/4 Teatro Flores [review]

Al menos el Domingo, la visita de Social Distortion demostró que no va a ser una de aquellas que pasan sin pena ni gloria. La banda de Mike Ness paseó su leyenda underground por Argentina por primera vez en treinta años y aunque cueste creerlo, no tuvo que hacer nada extraordinario para refrendar sus pergaminos. Algún pesimista podría argumentar que Social D. tenía un público ansioso y fanático ganado de antemano y que tocaran como tocaran la respuesta iba a ser vibrante. Lo seguro es que una mezcla de punkrockers, rockabillys y rockeros – lo que configuró una fauna bastante particular – venían esperando esta visita y que esa larga espera se reflejó en la edad del público que colmó El Teatro. Tal vez los treinta sentían a la banda como parte de su adolescencia. Para muchos era volver a los dieciocho. Sin lugar a dudas, algo muy fuerte para aquellos que habían dejado en el recuerdo aquel pasado.

Sin embargo, Social Distortion tiene una existencia que no se alimenta del pasado pero linkea con él. Esto, aunque resulte paradójico funciona a la perfección en el escenario. Tanto el mismísimo Mike Ness como Johny Wickersham en guitarra, y Brent Harding en bajo parece sacados de una de esa películas de los cincuentas – sesentas en donde el rock and roll y el peinado con gomina eran ley. Scott Reeder recientemente incorporado desde Fu Manchu en batería y los teclados terminaron de crear una escena cien por ciento actitud.

Entonces el comienzo con el instrumental “Road Zombie” que suele servir para abrir sus shows en vivo, seguido de “Under my Thumb”, cover de los Rolling Stones, dio paso a un verdadera demostración de rock con mayúsculas. Hay que decir que en vivo Social D. no incluye solo los tres acordes básicos del punk rock, si no que va un poco mas allá, jugando con los límites del estilo. Temas como la sentida versión de “Ball and Chain” donde Ness repitió otra vez Uno puede correr toda la vida/pero no ir a ningún lado están mas cercanos de la tradición rockera de Johny Cash que al punk aunque en actitud y despligue demuestren todo lo rockera que una banda punk puede ser. Otros temas como “Reach for the sky” o “Nickles and dimes” fueron una muestra impecable de todo lo prolija, precisa y contundente que puede llegar a ser una banda de rock and roll.

En este sentido “Don´t drag me down” y “Bad Luck” mostraron lo que propone Sx Dx desde lo lírico. Tranquilamente uno podría decir que Mike Ness las ha vivido todas. Pisando los cincuenta, estuvo preso, fue adicto a las drogas pesadas, perdió y ganó miles. Cuando en “Story of my life” cuenta la épica del perdedor que a pesar de todo sigue adelante uno siente lo que él ha sentido (más aún si previo al inicio del tema dice esta es la historia de mi vida y de sus vidas).

“Makin believe” en medio de una fiesta de saltos y “Prision Bound” cantada a pleno por un Teatro Flores colmado, fueron dos de las canciones que brillaron en la última parte del show aunque de por sí fue un show parejo en todo sentido. Antes habían pasado “Still alive”, “Sick Boy” y “The Creeps”, entre otras. Con un sonido perfecto de principio a fin, “Ring Of Fire”, cover del gran Cash, fue el cierre perfecto que simbolizó todo lo que sucedió en la noche del domingo. Con un ojo en el pasado y sabiendo que hay que dejar todo en el presente, pasó Social Distortion en un show perfecto. Mike Ness y compañía saben llevan el rock en la sangre y como expresarlo. Esperemos que el futuro los traiga más seguido para alegrar a los viejos y jóvenes corazones.

im from paraguay but i could not miss the oportunity to see them so i went to argentina, NO REGRETS! best show ever,mike and jonnhy playing like two kids! very emotional to listen them live.
I saw a big tough looking man crying when the show began, many moved people, but when he saw mike on stage he could not control him self, big tears to running on his face.
i realized how many people where there feeling the same thing.

Después de esperarlos tanto tiempo por fin llegaron a Buenos Aires. La banda que puede emocionarme hasta las lágrimas. La banda que pensé que nunca tendria la suerte de ver en vivo, llegó a la Argentina y arrasó el Teatro de Flores. Por suerte pude asistir a dos de las tres ncohes. Sinceramente creo que fueron de los shows mas impecables y emotivos que vi en mi vida.
Una vez mas me emocioné al escuchar esas canciones que me acompañan desde hace muchísimos años. Una vez mas lloré y no pude evitar empezar a temblar (un poquito) cuando me encontré a Mike en la calle. Ya esta tatuado su autografó (and another for tattoo) que con mucho orgullo luciré por siempre en mi brazo izquierdo.

i can’t express with words how i feel, after going to your show… i never thought that the third live show in my life would be you, and i must say… you rocked the life of all who have been there all three days… and well, the same night i went…
i wish i could’ve been on the three dates, still with the last one…and being so close to the band, i can’t complain

i was standing near the left side (from band’s view) of the stage, wearing a white trucker hat, yelling the shit out of my mouth, and singing every song…

i hope i can see you again, here or anywhere in the world, but i hope this won’t be the last time….

you gave a great performance and a hell of a show, and…it will be imprinted..as you said … on the Story of my life….

Llegamos al show del viernes con muchas expectativas, puedo afirmar que todos los presentes habíamos esperado ver a SxDx en vivo y sin duda alguna valió la pena.
Pasadas las 22.00hs se apagaron las luces y se abrió el telón, personalmente fue una sensación un tanto extraña, estaba allí con mi cámara, esperando para sacar fotos tomando el lugar que tiene que tomar un

fotógrafo en un show y a la vez, ansiosa de escuchar, ver, sentir la presencia de Mike Ness y cía. sobre un escenario argentino, para cumplir más bien con mi rol de simple espectadora y fan de la banda. Ya todo

estaba listo, sonó de fondo una canción de “torero” y los Social Distortion (sin M.N.) aparecieron con gran actitud, tomaron sus posiciones, se colgaron sus instrumentos y dieron inicio a “Road Zombie”, nuevo tema

instrumental que no voy a olvidar jamás, pues fue el momento en el que Mike Ness hizo su entrada, con una bandana que solo dejaba ver sus ojos, cual vándalo.
Enseguida y sin dar respiro, comenzó “Don’t Drag Me Down”, junto a un “Oh oh oh oh oh oh!” generalizado producto de la suma de todas las almas que llenaron el Teatro Flores, acompañando a la banda de principio

a fin. El show siguió con una lista de temas inolvidable, como “Highway 101”, “Ball and Chain”, “The Creeps”, “Reach for the sky”, “Gotta know the rules”, “Mommy’s Little monster” (donde un niño con una careta de

calavera pasó corriendo por el escenario, habrá sido el hijo más pequeño de Mike?) y otros temas más que nos dejaron sin aliento.
La emoción de haber visto a Social Distortion sobre el escenario fue única. La actitud de los músicos, el sonido imponente (no por volumen, sino más bien por la calidad), la comodidad que se sintió de parte de Scott

Reeder, la comunidad que se generó con la banda en cada canción, son detalles que jamás olvidaré.
Al otro día tuvimos la posibilidad de ver el 2º show y escuchar otros himnos tales como “Making Believe”, que aceleraron el corazón de muchos. En ésta ocasión quedó en claro que todos en la banda estaban más

cómodos y el resultado fue el esperado, ya que se vino el lugar abajo. Mike estaba más comunicativo, trató de hablar castellano entre medio de algunas canciones y cuando dedicó un tema a Joey Ramone el "hey ho

let´s go" del todos superó cualquier volumen permitido.
No me queda ninguna duda: si hasta el día de hoy no tenía una banda favorita, ya se que es SOCIAL DISTORTION. Muchas Gracias por venir a nuestro país! Seguro nos volveremos a cruzar..

We arrived at the show on Friday with high expectations, I can say that everyone here had hoped to see live SxDx and certainly worth it.
22.00hs just after the lights went out and opened the curtain, I personally was feeling a little strange, was there with my camera, hoping to take pictures taking the place you have to take a photographer at a show at

the same time, anxious hearing, seeing, feeling the presence of Mike Ness and co. Argentina on stage, to comply more with my role as a mere spectator and fan of the band. Everything was ready, rang in the

background a song of “torero” and Social Distortion (no MN) appeared with great attitude, took their positions, they hung up their instruments and launched a “Road Zombie”, a new instrumental song that I will never

forget, as was the time when Mike Ness made his entrance, with a bandana that only showed her eyes, like a vandal.
Then, without respite, he began “Don’t Drag Me Down” with an “Oh oh oh oh oh oh!” generalized product of the sum of all souls who filled the Teatro Flores, accompanying the band from beginning to end. The show

continued with a list of topics unforgettable as “Highway 101”, “Ball and Chain”, “The Creeps”, “Reach for the sky”, “Gotta know the rules”, “Mommy’s Little Monster” (where a child with a skull mask came running

across the stage, will have been the youngest son Mike?) and other topics that left us breathless.
The thrill of seeing Social Distortion on stage was unique. The attitude of the musicians, the sound awesome (not by volume but rather by the quality), the comfort we felt from Scott Reeder, the community that was

built with the band on every song, are details that I will never forget .
The next day we had the chance to see the 2nd show and listen to other hymns such as “Making Believe”, which accelerated the hearts of many. On this occasion it became clear that everyone in the band were more

comfortable and the result was expected, since the site came down. Mike was more communicative, he tried to speak Spanish in between songs as a theme dedicated to Joey Ramone “hey ho let’s go” of all volume

exceeded any permissible.
I have no doubt: if until today didn’t have a favorite band, whether it is SOCIAL DISTORTION. Thank you very much for coming to our country! Sure we’ll cross again ..

i been to the first show in argentina, i think that it was great, but i expected some more songs, i feel like something was missing, but it was wonderful to see a band like social distortion in my country
