Mannn I never thought that Social D had so many fans here in Brazil. The show was THE best show I have ever been to. I had to drive for 320 Km to see the show and another 320 km to go back home and I had to work on the other day…

If you missed it, I am sorry… try to catch the next one and you won’t regret.

Social Distortion
April 18th 2010
Curitiba Master Hall
Curitiba – Paraná – Brazil

Among friends we reserved the Sick Van, which departed early from Maringá to Curitiba. In the baggage the expectation to see one of the most respected bands of rock n’ roll and its leader, Sergeant Mike Ness.

We arrived in Curitiba. After eating and drinking we entered the Curitiba Master Hall listening to the music of the opening band, the Hillbilly Rawhide. I didn’t know them, but I got a great impression. As the Social Distortion opening band they knew their supporting role, but they warmed up the muscles and vocal chords of the people thirsty for rock who were there. Applause for them.

Half an hour after the presentation of Hillbilly Rawhide, the show began. Fans placed hands on their heads, they could not believe what were seeing. After thirty years (how old are you?) the Social Distortion was there, in front of them. The Sergeant singing with that raspy voice you only listened to on your speakers, that gold Gibson Les Paul with the words Orange County, the other one with the number 13, those songs with lyrics that made you reflect about your life was all there, live. It was gratifying to see men on stage singing and playing with their hearts.

At the setlist I highlight Road Zombie, instrumental that opened the show calling the crowd to the chaos; The Creeps, dedicated by the vocalist to the atleticanos who lost the Paranaense Championship that day; Sometimes I Do, when Mike Ness proved that his voice will sing for a long time and Ring of Fire, which closed the show with mastery. Story of My Life was left for the next show, which the Sergeant promised that will happen soon.

Social Distortion returns to their home with the feeling that “maybe you’re more passionate than americans”. After having passed through South America and seen the passion we have for rock and football, it seems fair. To return the compliment, I echo the words of one of the producers of the show, which took the microphone, pointed to Mike Ness and said staring at the audience: “Esse cara é foda!”. Translating, something like “This guy kick-ass!”.

Thanks to the professionals: Kim, Liliane, Carlinho, Bianca, Zóio, Brunão, Manta, Careca, Emar, Caio, Edson, Jéssica, Murilo, Juliana and Seu João.

Mike looked really impressed seeing so many people “crowding the house on a Sunday night” in..Curitba!??

Curitiba is the most Rock n’ Roll city in Brazil and the audience singed along all the songs. From “Under my Thumb” till “Ring of Fire”, it was pure energy. Nice place to finished the successful South America tour!

I wish they really come back next year, as Mike promised

Impressive is the way we believe in good music, even if we are in somewhat bad times. Saw it live on April 18, 2010.
I never thought I’d see Social Distortion in Brazil. I am still thrilled and amazed with the show in Curitiba, my hometown. Curitiba is the rock city in Brazil, a country that discriminate against all but few know. I would like to thank the fantastic show by Social Distortion and ask again, preferably in less than 1 year … hahaha’’Curitiba, the best town! You guys are professionals! "
Words from Mike Ness. I want you back in my hometown and have not realized my dream: hug you and take a picture with you! CONGRATULATIONS!
I LOVE YOU!
Mr. Ness, you continue to rule. LOVE YOU!

Curitiba, April 18th, 2010. A dream come true. Finally Social Distortion is in Brazil!!! Even better, in Curitiba, my hometown, with thousands of SocialD fans eagering to sing along the classics!!!
The set was killer. A parade of hits, played with energy, played loud and heavy.
Mike Ness do not need to prove anything, nevertheless he proved that he is a show man, a character, he is the presence, that he have THE VOICE, that he really knows how to bring that bluesy feeling to punk rock. To me it was watching The Ramones mixed with AC/DC. A torrent of hard driven downstroke chords filled with a caractheristic voice and pentantonics solos. As I said, a dream came true. Beers up, guys!!!

I was there, and it’s an amazing exhibition of pure rock and roll of the band. A great show full of energy. The crowd, young guys mixed up with grounded children and beautiful ladys, was looking foward for the show. Finally, a long wait of many years, was becoming real.
The setlist was perfect, one by one, hit after hit shaked everybody like a earthquake.
Mr. Ness advised all to forget the problems and enjoy the night. I knew, from my heart, that everybody there had a great time.
I will remember this show for the rest of my life.
The night is over, and at 7 A.M. I saw the band at the Curitiba Internationa Airport, ready to go to São Paulo-SP and then to the USA.
Thanks for everybody that worked to realize this show. I hope to see you soom. Thank you very much Social Distortion.

To see Social Distortion playing some classics like Sick Boy, Bad Luck and Ball and Chain, is something great. To see my favorites on the setlist is something more than awesome cause listen to Sometimes I Do live, made me fell like I was 16 years old again and Making Believe almost made me lose my voice singing it along with all my strenght.
Rock… punk… whatever! This was the kind of show that makes us forget about label bands and just enjoy some honest, pure and awesome rock´n´roll!
