Show Review: 612

Wow! Another tight set from the Social D’s. It was the second of back to back sold out shows and a Wednesday night no less. They started out with the instrumental that kicks off their new cd. The crowd was great but not intimidating up front, and the sound quality from every vantage in the Ballroom was excellent. The entire set was solid and left you wanting more, the sign of a great show. It was a mix of old and new which was definitely highlighted with incredible versions of "California" and "Can’t Take it with You." Those songs were bolstered with female vocalists that really gave the songs a hard/rock/gospel edge. Other highlights included "Bakersfield," "Ball and Chain," "Ring of Fire," and an excellent version of "Story of my Life." Overall the lighting was great, sound quality was excellent and there is nothing like the ball bearing wood floor that moves underfoot when the place is rocking. The third time’s a charm as they say and my 3rd Social D’s show was the best. Everyone going to future shows on this tour should consider themselves lucky. They are a great band that has consistently gotten better over the years.
